چکیده

The aim of this research is to study and develop models for driver’s lane-changing behaviour in an urban area using the logistic regression method. A pilot study was conducted using a videotape recording technique to film an approach road leading to a signalised intersection in an urban road during the morning off-peak period. Inter related coding methods were designed to described and verify the driver’s lane-changing manoeuvre. A questionnaires study to analyse the driver’s background, experience, attitudes, lane-changing practices and their driving behaviour on the road was carried out in order to develop lane-changing behaviour models using the logistic regression method. Key-Words: Lane-changing, Action, Racei, Fast, Queue, Pass

Developing an Analytical Model and Simulation of The Contraflow Left-Turn Lane at Signalized Intersections

At some intersections, excessive queue lengths may spill out of the left-turn bay and block the through lanes, jeopardizing level of service for the entire intersection. One of the most effective plans recently presented by the researchers is the "Contraflow left-turn lane" (CLL) In this method, left-turn vehicles will use the nearest lane in the opposite direction in addition to the usual left...

Capacity Analysis of Signalised Intersection using Micro- simulation

Micro-simulation models are rapidly gaining acceptance as promising tools to analyse and evaluate ITS and other traffic control and management measures. Capacity is a primary concept in most of traffic engineering studies, however micro-simulation models generally ignore this concept. There are significant numbers of studies on capacity analysis based on analytical approaches including Highway ...

A Method for Queue Length Estimation in an Urban Street Network Based on Roll Time Occupancy Data

A method estimating the queue length in city street networks was proposed using the data of roll time occupancy. The key idea of this paper is that when the queue length in front of the queue detector becomes longer, the speeds of the following vehicles to pass through the detector will become smaller, resulting in higher occupancy with constant traffic intensity. Considering the relationship b...

Advanced OR and AI Methods in Transportation MARKOV MESOSCOPIC SIMULATION MODEL OF OVERFLOW QUEUES AT MULTILANE SIGNALIZED INTERSECTIONS

This paper analyzes the interdependency between the dynamics of queues at isolated signalized intersections and the lane-changing behavior of vehicles approaching the intersection. A dynamic queuing model based on Markov Chain renewal process is combined with a lane-changing behavior model in order to simulate the vehicle distribution in time. We applied this simulation to a two-lane intersecti...
